Hunting Sealed Pokémon Across Missouri
October 16, 2026 · by the Keeper of the Vale
People ask where a little shop finds sealed Pokémon in the year of our Lord 2026, when every big-box shelf from here to Springfield seems to be picked clean by breakfast.
The honest answer is unglamorous: Dollar General, early, and often.
Out here, the map is a constellation of small towns, and every one of them has a DG with a toy aisle about four feet wide. Most days, that aisle has exactly what you’d expect, and then, some mornings, the restock truck has been kind, and there’s sealed Pokémon sitting where the puzzle books were supposed to go. Never a pallet of it. A box here, a couple of tins there. The hunt is a game of patience played across a lot of two-lane highway.
A few rules the Vale hunts by:
- Early beats lucky. Restocks land when they land; the shelf rewards whoever shows up first with their eyes open.
- Take what the shelf fairly offers, not all of it. The next collector rolling through that town deserves a chance at the same surprise. We buy like neighbors, because out here we are.
- Every find gets looked over by hand. A box that comes home to the Vale gets turned over, checked corner to corner, and only then listed, photographed by us, counted honestly, and packed like it’s going to family. Because it is.
So when you see a sealed box on our shelves with a Vale postmark on the box it ships in, know that it probably started as a sunrise drive, a bell over a door, and four feet of toy aisle that almost didn’t have anything.
That’s the whole secret. There isn’t a bigger one.
